Putting Maryland's families first!
My name is John M. Paff, Jr. and I am running for the Maryland House of Delegates, District 34A. District 34A encompasses the Route 40 corridor from Joppatowne to Port Deposit.
I am the son of a Vietnam-era Marine, grandson of a World War II veteran who served in both the European and Pacific fronts, and great-grandson of a fallen firefighter. My family came to America from Germany in the 1870s and every generation since then has worked to make their community a better place. Now it is my turn to help make Maryland better for the next generation!

Primary Tasks
Serving Maryland’s Families: In recent years, it seems that our elected leadership has decided to serve the interests of two groups: corporate America and special interest groups. I am not a career politician. My main goal is to make Maryland a better place for my family to live. As your elected official, I will be the voice of Maryland’s families in Annapolis!
Ensuring Maryland’s Financial Future: Our elected officials believe that as our state's revenue declines, the only answer to make up for budget shortfalls is to increase taxes. I disagree. We need to cut spending, which in turn will allow us to lower taxes. By lowering tax rates, we will enable consumers and small businesses to keep more of their own money, thus allowing them to reinvest it back into the market as well as hire new employees. Newly hired employees will lower the unemployment rate, increase income tax revenue for the state, and increase consumer spending in all aspects of the financial market.
Defend the Constitution: I believe the Constitution needs to be defended at all costs, especially the Second Amendment. Maryland needs to be a “Shall Issue” state. Many citizens believe this will increase crime rates, however, the statistics clearly show this to be incorrect. Thomas Jefferson summed it up very well:
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
